Custom Urls!

January 28, 2007

We’ve just released two important new upgrades for accounts that have paid to have the ads removed. Now, when you pay to remove the ads from your map you also receive two additional benefits:

1) A custom url for your map.

Now you can choose your own url such as:

http://www.weddingmapper.com/margaret_and_peter

We’ve received quite a lot of requests for custom urls, so we’re excited to get them out there. They are first come, first serve, and, although we expect everyone will be able to get the url that they want, we encourage people to purchase it sooner rather than later to ensure they get the url they want. These urls will be good for one month after your wedding, at which point they will expire so that future couples can get their first choice, as well.

2) An enhanced code snippet.

Now you can include your map in your wedding website in it’s entirety. It will show all photos, provide driving directions, etc., right inside your wedding website.

The best part is that you get both of these enhancements along with an ad-free map and list view for the same low, one-time price of just $9.95. If you’ve already paid to remove the ads, you have the ability to use the enhanced code snippet from the share section on the map page or choose a custom url right now from your account page.

We hope these enhancements make your experience with Wedding Mapper that much better. If you have any problems or feedback please let us know.

And, as always, please help us spread the word to others who are getting married.

Looking for Quotes

January 21, 2007

We are trying to put together a press release to send out to people in an effort to get the word out about Wedding Mapper. We’ve been seeing some fantastic comments in the various wedding blogs and message forums, but they are a little too casual to include in a press release. So if you’ve had a great experience with Wedding Mapper and would like to help us get the word out then let us know about your experience. You can leave a comment on this blog or email me at jared@weddingmapper.com.

Thanks so much in advance. It’s really a big help.

Experimenting with Image Ads

January 17, 2007

We’ve decided to experiment with image ads. The text ads are simply too subtle and are not getting clicked on enough. We will still be using a lot of text ads, though, to see if the difference is worth the added annoyance.

I hope this does not annoy people too much; we tried to keep it as tasteful as possible. If you do find it too annoying we will always have the extremely inexpensive option to remove the ads for just $9.95, which is probably the least expensive price you will pay for anything at your wedding.

A Wedding Mapper Screencast

January 16, 2007

The great folks over at screeniac.com have created a very nice screencast of Wedding Mapper. I had intended to create a screencast myself, but I doubt I could have done nearly as good of a job. It’s a very nice demo and actually exposed a few minor issues that I have since cleaned up.

Check it out at:

You need to click the “Flash Demo” link to view the demo.

January 14, 2007

What are people saying about Wedding Mapper? Here are just a few of the dozens of blogs and message boards that have already discovered Wedding Mapper:

So far so good. There are still hundreds of thousands of couples out there that have never heard of Wedding Mapper, so there’s still a lot of work to do.

Local Wedding Vendors

January 13, 2007

If you are a local wedding vendor then you may want to sign up to be notified of the new services we are working on. The new service will make it easier for you to leverage the local nature of Wedding Mapper and promote your services.

The service will be great for all types of local vendors including, but not limited to:

  • Florists
  • DJs
  • Hotels
  • Caterers
  • Wedding Planners/Coordinators
  • Restaurants
  • etc

We aren’t exactly sure when the new service will go live, it will be a few months at the very least. To sign up for notification of the new service click here.

Important: If you are using Wedding Mapper to map out your wedding rest assured that nothing will change for you when the new service launches. We will never give out your email address and will not be changing the map creating experience or map viewing experience at all.

A Better Deal – Just $9.95 to Remove the Ads

January 12, 2007

I’m not sure if everyone realizes this, but we dropped the price to remove the ads from your wedding map to just $9.95. We’ve come up with some other ideas for generating revenue and want to make sure everyone has a great experience with the product. So if you wanted to remove the ads from your map, but were a little hesitant about the price hopefully this new price will ease the indecision.

Search Feature Released

January 12, 2007

We released the search feature today. It will allow your guests, photographer, florist, etc., to search for your map using your name or your fiancee’s name. So you’ll want to make sure your names are correct on your information page. You can get there by logging into your account and clicking “change title, date, etc.”.

If you’d rather not allow people to search for your wedding map you can also clear out your names. This will not affect the title of your map. Your names are only used to facilitate searching.
